The Plataran Borobudur
Hotels Tried and Tested
The Plataran Borobudur will welcome you with open arms and make you feel like you are part of an extended family. What makes the Plataran so unique is the hotel’s very close attention to detail, not only in the wonderful furnishings of each villa but also in what their guests want. Erwin James, the General Manager and his wonderful staff at The Plataran know exactly what you need to make your stay as relaxing as possible. If you are here for one week or even three days, you will leave with a plan to return as soon as is physically possible.
Come to The Plataran if you are searching for peace and quiet as the surrounding landscape will offer you just that. With sweeping vistas and ancient temples you can be sure to find your inner sense of belonging that our everyday working lives seem to swallow up.
Upon arrival at the resort, you will be greeted by very friendly staff offering you a welcome drink and that ever so refreshing cold towel. The cold towel will soon take a backseat, as you will be greeted by an awe inspiring view of Borobudur temple rising majestically out of the Indonesian jungle. The hotel is perfectly placed in this area to obtain some of the best views of Borobudur and you can even view the temple through one of two telescopes they have kindly installed for their guests. There is also a roof decking that is beautifully furnished with local woods for you to view the temple. Take to the deck and order a few drinks to gaze at Borobudur’s majesty.
The Plataran not only has luxury villas but also very cute and very affordable Cabins that are tastefully furnished and made from the local wood: Teak. To reach the smaller cabins you have to climb down a few steps but once there you will be guaranteed peace and quiet and welcomed by the view of rice paddies. Sit back on your deck and watch the world go by… this is the reason why people come back time and time again. The larger villas are situated with an ideal view of Borobudur and are justly named. Once again you will have the peace and privacy while at the same time enjoying the view of Borobudur Temple from your private swimming pool.
What makes the Plataran so special apart from its location and wonderful staff is the food. The restaurant is situated on a wooden terrace offering you unadulterated views of the surrounding landscape. The head chef Iqbal is always on hand to enquire about your meal and you won’t be disappointed. Iqbal studied in Rome and Amsterdam before he took over the kitchen at The Plataran. The menu ranges from a hearty breakfast of home baked breads and conserves to mouth watering main courses of lamb and sirloin steak.
If you are not satisfied with relaxing in your sumptuous villa or cabin, the staff will be more than happy to arrange excursions for you. Go Travel Indonesia highly recommends the bicycle hire. You can easily ride a bicycle to Borobudur from the resort and it will take you through some of the local villages where the people will greet you with their warm smiles. The ride itself only takes around 30 minutes to reach Borobudur Temple. Another interesting option for the more adventurous is white water rafting down the Elo River. Once again the staff are always on hand to make the necessary arrangements.
So much can be written about this special resort and it still won’t do it justice. You need to experience it for yourself. What you can be guaranteed is very high attention to detail and guest satisfaction. The staff is what makes this place so special and with its unique location and fine dining options The Plataran will stay in your memories for such a long time.
